Meet our Women’s Group Coordinators!

Holly Thieman

hthieman@purdue.edu

Major: Pharmaceutical Science and Applied Statistics

How I got involved at St. Tom’s:  My freshman year I went on NSO, started singing with the 9 am Sunday Mass choir, met new people at Friday Fellowship, and Boiler Awakening.  I was introduced to Women’s Group during the spring of my freshman year.

Favorite Bible Verse: “We know that God makes all things work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.”   ~Romans 8:28

Fun Fact: I used to work at a candy store and I LOVE owls!

Bio:  I’m a super-senior this year, finishing up my second major of Applied Statistics.  I’m from Newburgh, IN (near Evansville), and I’ve wanted to come to Purdue since I was about 8 years old.  St. Tom’s is truly my home away from home, and I am soooo grateful for the strong faith community here.  In my free time, I enjoy running, painting, creative writing, and listening to/singing music.

Claire Anderson

Major: Aeronautical Engineering Technology

How I got involved at St. Tom’s: To be honest, I’m not really sure. I showed up once and it kinda snowballed from there…

Favorite Bible Verse: “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another; as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do. And over all these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection.” Colossians 3:12-14

Fun Fact: I am a huge Star Wars fan!

Bio: Hi!! I’m Claire and I’m a sophomore in Aviation. I’m from Brownsburg, Indiana, which is right outside of Indianapolis. I love to read, dance, draw, and sing. I also am *attempting* to write fantasy/ action- adventure novels, which is super fun, but I should put more time into… My favorite animals are cats and ducks. My favorite color is turquoise blue. I love cooking and baking because you can make yummy things like pasta and cookies! 🙂 I sing in the 7 p.m. mass choir and lead an Ignite group in the Honors dorm. I love the community at St. Tom’s and can’t wait to meet you all!

Sarah Myers

Myers247@purdue.edu

Major: Nursing

How I got involved at St. Tom’s: Through Women’s Group! After attending the first meeting, I was hooked by the joy, kindness, and energy of the ladies who attended and lead the group. My family also greatly encouraged me to seek out ways to grow in and practice my faith my freshman year. Their encouragement pushed me to try new groups and opportunities at Saint Tom’s (like Women’s Group!).

Favorite Bible Verse: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Fun Fact: I play hand bells for Purdue Musical Organization!

Bio: I am from Granger, Indiana, and studying Nursing at Purdue. Thanks to the countless number of beautiful examples growing up, especially that of my parents, I am no longer just a cradle Catholic, but an active and eager one too! During my junior year in high school I fell in love with my faith and my eternal Father. I am proud to be a boilermaker, and every day I am striving to be the woman, student, and Nurse God is calling me to be. I think I am a real life Bilbo Baggins: being cozy at home with a book is my personal cup of tea, but God has cast me on some pretty amazing adventures, and I now look forward to whatever He has planned next! I am striving for Heaven, where I hope one day to be a patron saint of sloth keepers.

Samantha Puckett

Major: Nursing

How I got involved at St. Tom’s: Last year as a freshman, Women’s Group helped me get acquainted with lots of awesome young women, and I really got to know everyone by hanging out in St. Tom’s basement doing homework and napping in the Love Sacs. From there, going on Boiler Awakening 13 inspired me to want to be a leader in the church!

Favorite Bible Verse: “O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar.” Psalm 139: 1-2 (I very highly encourage you to go read this whole Psalm of David- it is quite intriguing and beautiful<3) Fun Fact: I learned how to throw a real boomerang from true Aboriginals in Australia.

Bio: I am from Evansville, IN, and I am studying Nursing here at Purdue. I fell in love with the Catholic faith during high school, and am still on my journey with Christ which I know will last a lifetime. I am all about anything to get my adrenaline going, and I love the great outdoors who is always accompanied by a little adventure. I sing Disney songs, Broadway, and the best wedding classics anywhere with great acoustics. I enjoy DIY things and dabble in painting. I am working in the Purdue Bakeshop this semester, and you can also catch me on the intramural field playing flag football or some ultimate. I try my best to love all people and my Father upstairs, and I strive to be the best version of myself possible.
