PCS Socials

PCS Socials is a group that hosts various social activities for the Purdue Catholic Student Community. Our events are designed to be a place for all students, Catholic or otherwise, to gather for fun and fellowship, typically on Friday and Saturday evenings. These events offer a welcoming, casual environment and an alternative to parties and other events on campus. We plan small, on-campus events, such as movie nights and bowling, off-campus trips to local attractions (rides provided) and large events for the whole community, like our annual Barn Dance (November) and Formal Dance (April). Unlike other ministries, membership or regular attendance is not required – all are welcome to attend any event! We hope YOU can join us!

How I got involved at St. Tom’s: I went on NSO my freshman year and was involved with my dorm’s Ignite group. I was overwhelmed by the passion for Christ and friendship that St. Tom’s members and leaders have so I got more involved by going on BA12 my second semester and becoming a staff head for NSO and an Ignite leader my sophomore year. This year I’m excited to lead Friday Fellowship and hopefully help others find their niche at St. Tom’s.

Favorite Bible Verse: Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Fun Fact: When my parents were planning for college expenses when I was younger they were debating whether they should get a Michigan Education Trust (covers all of in-state tuition at any Michigan public school) and my dad (a Purdue alum) said “What if she wants to go to Purdue?” and my mom asked “Why would she want to go to Purdue?!?” Sorry Mom!

Bio: I am from Bloomfield Township, Michigan which is a suburb 20 miles NW of Detroit. My parents and my younger brother are the best – they have always been so supportive and loving and I cherish the time I can spend with them. I was raised in a Catholic family and went to Catholic school PreK-12. Outside of St. Tom’s, I’m involved with the Purdue Seismic Design Team and I love sharing my passion for photography and hands-on building with the team. I’m also a member of Postcrossing.com where I exchange postcards with people all around the world. I’m looking forward to having lots of fun with Friday fellowship!

How I got involved at St. Tom’s: I started my St. Tom’s adventure by going on the New Student Overnighter as a Freshman. That was an AWESOME weekend that opened the door to the wonderful community at St. Tom’s. After that I participated in Boiler Awakening Retreats, Ignite groups, Men’s Group, a mission trip, and Friday Fellowship. Now I’m here leading Friday Fellowship.

Favorite Bible Verse: Matthew 7:12 “ Do to others whatever you would have them do to you.”

Fun Fact: I have ziplined over an ocean. When I’m back home, my Grandpa will go to an Italian Bakery and get me a cannoli every Wednesday.

Bio: I am from Novi, Michigan. I have one sister. I like outdoorsy activities and watching sports. The Paint Crew is Fun and SO worth the extra $15. I’m an Eagle Scout and that’s how I’m a board member in the Purdue Eagle Scout Association. Settlers of Catan is my type of board game.

How I got involved at St. Tom’s: My friend took me to an Ignite meeting one night. It turns out that Ignite was just what my soul needed. Through that group I have found a really solid group of friends and a community of faithful Catholics at St. Tom’s.

Favorite Bible Verse: Proverbs 27:19 “As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.”

Fun Fact: I have a twin brother in the USMC. And one of my dogs has three legs. Her name is Gina and she’s adorable.

Bio: I’m from a small town in Northeastern Indiana called Waterloo, it’s just north of Fort Wayne. Aside from my twin brother, I have one younger sister and a younger brother. I have four dogs and enjoy spending time with livestock, which is a strange pastime to have. I have been a counselor at CYO Camp Rancho Framasa in Nashville, Indiana for the last two summers, so I love staying active and working with children, funshine and smiles are my favorite.
