Fr. Patrick Baikauskas, O.P. Biography

Father Patrick Baikauskas, OP was assigned to St. Thomas Aquinas in January of 2008 and became Pastor and Director of Campus Ministry in 2010. He was born the youngest of four boys in Crete, Illinois, a small town near the Indiana border. He has a BA in Political Science from Bradley University, and a history working in government under three Illinois governors, a congressman and the President of the United States.

When he embraced God’s call to the priesthood in 2001, he was accepted to the Order of Preachers, the Dominicans, and studied at the Aquinas Institute of Theology until 2007. Since beginning his Dominican life at St. Tom’s, he has seen the instigation of several new ministries.

In 2009, Campus RENEW, a program which successfully brings students together to study scripture and share their faith. In 2010, Boiler Awakening, a student led retreat began calling forth the Holy Spirit across Purdue’s campus. There has also been an expansion of adult faith sharing opportunities. In 2012, the Catholic Campus Ministry Association gave national recognition to one of St. Tom’s thriving ministries, LifeGuides, with the Exemplary Program Award.

There are exciting new festivals bringing the Greater Lafayette community together such as the Blockbuster Weekend and the ‘How To Festival,’ born in January 2013.
