Boiler Catholics Racing is an extracurricular team run by Boiler Catholics that use skills learned in the classroom and applies them to real-life mechanics and motorsport. This team collectively builds, assesses, develops, and improves a racing kart to compete in the annual Purdue Grand Prix. Boiler Catholics Racing allows students to experience real-world engineering and builds communication, prioritization, analysis, and troubleshooting skills that students will use throughout their lives.
Boiler Catholics Racing gives students a sense of belonging to the Purdue and St. Tom’s community. Each member balances school, extracurricular activities, family, friends, and faith while participating on the team. We hope to continue our mission to improve constantly while creating a learning atmosphere for students to develop communication skills, teamwork, and faith. If you don’t mind getting down and dirty, have a passion for learning, and want to increase your involvement at St. Tom’s, then this may be for you. No previous knowledge of engineering or motorsports is required.
The Boiler Catholics Racing team aims to create a paradigm for exemplary teamwork, foster the spirit of friendly competition, and build an everlasting fellowship as a means of racing boldly towards Christ.
