Sacramental Prep
Baptism:
Through the Sacrament of Baptism, God's children are welcomed into the Catholic faith family, which most commonly takes place at a very young age. In this case, it is extremely important for parents to know what they are asking when they ask to have their children baptized. St. Tom's baptismal preparation program is for first time parents and godparents. Classes are offered every other month. Please see the parish calendar or call the parish office for upcoming dates and times.
Confirmation:
At your baptism your parents spoke for you. In the Sacrament of Confirmation you will speak for yourself as a follower of Jesus Christ. Preparation for Confirmation begins in September for those who have been raised in the Roman Catholic tradition. Those wishing to be confirmed must be at least 16 years old. Preparation for Confirmation will include instruction, community service and spiritual formation.
RCIA/RCIC:
RCIA, which stands for Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, is a process by which adults enter the Roman Catholic Church. Interested persons may come to RCIA Inquiry on Tuesdays at 7:00pm. This is the first step in the RCIA process. It gives inquirers the opportunity to share faith, ask questions, pray together and meet members of the faith community. Those who decide to complete the process of becoming members in full communion with the Church receive the Sacraments after participating in the RCIA process for a full liturgical year.
RCIC, which stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children, is the process by which children who have not been baptized by the age of 7 can prepare for initiation into the church.
