Liturgy

As a body is one, though it has many parts, and all the parts
of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ.
For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether
Jews, or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given
to drink of one Spirit
(1 Corinthians 12:12-13)

The word liturgy comes from a very old word meaning “work of the people.” We work together to make our Catholic liturgy a life giving experience for each other. Each one of us has a role to play in making this great prayer of thanks and praise to God. As baptized members of the Body of Christ, we are all members of the royal priesthood and our loving God has bestowed each of us with gifts and talents to share with others.

It’s the year of the census! So we will follow the lead and will hold a liturgical census. This is a chance for all of us to refresh our minister lists so that we can be better prepared for liturgy. We ask that EVERYONE, whether you have served for 5 minutes, 5 days, 5 years or 500 years or want to begin serving, to please fill out this short form.

Attention liturgical ministers!
In the very near future, all communication regarding liturgical ministries as well as many other ministries at St. Tom's will be done completely through FlockNote - a free online service. Please take a moment to sign-up below.
NOTE: This should be done in addition to the liturgical census.

  • St. Rose of Viterbo (September 4, 2010)
Rose achieved sainthood in only 18 years of life. Even as a child Rose had a great desire to pray and to aid the poor. While still very young, she began a life of penance in her parents' house. She was as generous to the poor as she was strict with herself. At the age of 10 she became a Secular Franciscan and soon began preaching in the streets about sin and the sufferings of Jesus.
